Description

Our non-profit organization has an opening for a full-time Student Advocate. The position will represent student members in Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
Representing the interests of the student membership of Saskatchewan Polytechnic Students Association, the Student Advocate will be responsible for.

    raising student awareness of Saskatchewan Polytechnic policies and student rights;
    promoting and assisting with the delivery of SPSA services, advocacy and various initiatives;
    assisting in facilitating communication between student members and Saskatchewan Polytechnic staff who have the responsibility and authority to resolve student concerns;
    assisting with investigations into student academic and non-academic complaints;
    developing respectful working relationships with instructors, program heads, counsellors, deans and so on; and
    coordinating and conducting SPSA orientations for all Saskatchewan Polytechnic students.

The ideal candidate will possess:
    training from a recognized program in a related field or equivalent education and experience;
    the ability to manage sensitive, stressful, emotional and confidential situations in a respectful manner;
    the ability to interpret and follow established policies;
    the ability to work independently as required;
    the ability to prioritize workload and re-evaluate responsibilities as needed;
    strong communication skills, both written and verbal; and
    a reliable vehicle and a valid drivers license as travel between the campuses is required.
