Description

Porcupine Opportunities Program, a non-profit organization that supports adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, is seeking Direct Support Professional Staff for their residents in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan. We are currently looking to fill several positions with up to full time hours.

The Direct Support Professional Staff Member(s) will provide a home-like atmosphere with a high quality of care to residents of the POP.  This is accomplished by allowing for maximum independence and a high quality of life.  In addition, Residential Program Staff ensures all residents are given the opportunity for as much community integration possible.

Responsibilities:
- Developing, prioritizing, and implementing daily activity plans for residents in concert with others;
- Assisting all residents with their daily routines including hygiene needs;
- Planning and providing well-balanced, nutritional meals with residents needs in mind;
- Ensuring that cleaning and laundry is done as required and that participants are included in daily chores whenever it is possible and appropriate.
- Work in partnership with other staff to ensure the needs of residents are met.
Qualifications
- Ability to work with multiple program participants while remaining focused on individuals needing individual attention and care.    
- Ability to both follow instructions and to think and act independently when needed.  
- Willingness to do duties as assigned in a safe and timely manner.
- Effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and clients.
- Help lift and support participants, if needed.
- Preference will be given to individuals with post-secondary training and/or experience in a profession related to working with individuals with disabilities and/or health care.
- Possess a valid drivers license.
