Hypor is the Pig Business Unit of Hendrix Genetics, a global multi-species animal genetics company.

We are currently looking for an individual to manage a 600 sow farrow to finish operation located near Balcarres, Saskatchewan.

A self-starter, the ideal candidate will display: superior communication skills; an in-depth knowledge of swine and swine management; a responsive and proactive approach to problems; knowledge of bio-security and animal welfare issues; and a strong ability to translate corporate vision to production performance.  

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

-Manage all operations in a 600 sow farrow to finish swine farm
-The ability to lead a team of employees with a hands-on approach
-Optimize unit productivity in terms of quality and quantity of breeding stock selected for sale, as well as quality and quantity of slaughter stock;
-Ensure all employees are adequately trained, and that protocols are strictly followed;
-Ensure the health, safety and welfare of both employees and stock in the facility
-Ensure unit kept in good repair;
-Prepare expenditures and production budget for unit;

Your skills, education and experience

-In-depth knowledge of swine production, with particular emphasis on health, environment, nutrition and genetic improvement
-Understanding of veterinary practices and preliminary disease identification
-Working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
-Superior communication skills
-Good networking abilities
-Above average computer skills
-Bachelor Degree in either Agriculture or  Animal Science preferably with an emphasis on swine
-10 years experience in commercial swine facility with 5 years in a senior position of minimum 600 sow unit
-Experience in a genetic nucleus would be an asset
