Description

STR8 UP requires a Part Time and Full Time Housing Support Worker for our Transitional Housing under the Community Outreach Model. The Housing Support Worker will provide supports to adults over the age of 18 years who are justice involved or STR8 UP connected residing in our Transitional Housing. This program is to provide a temporary sober housing solution for people who are being released into the community and or otherwise able to live independently but need assistance while securing permanent housing.
STR8 UP is a grassroots organization that is driven by our members. We do not walk in front to lead, nor behind to push, we walk beside our members to assist, accompany, encourage and support. We do our best to meet members where they are at and case plan accordingly.
Responsibilities include: Working with service agencies, criminal justice and community Advocating in justice, corrections, social services sectors With the member, conduct intake, ongoing case planning and self-assessments Provide one-to-one life skills and problem solving counselling Accompany and support members attending important appointments Assist in obtaining essentials to community living: Identification, financial assistance.  Arrange access to spiritual and cultural practices to support healing
Arrange for addictions programming, housing, health, education/job skills and employment opportunities Provide information about services and opportunities in the community
Qualifications: Post-secondary education in the human services field, equivalent experience or a combination of both  Demonstrate and practice a healthy lifestyle  Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with adults, staff and partnering agencies & maintain strict confidentiality& appropriate boundaries  Knowledge of Indigenous cultures & issues Valid drivers license  Criminal Records Check
