Grain Millers is looking for a Software Engineer for immediate hire. You'll be working on a team writing software used by our grain and cereal manufacturing facilities in the US and Canada. This position is flex-remote, with a minimum of one day per week at our facility in Yorkton Saskatchewan.
Our team builds and supports systems that track production, quality assurance, maintenance, inventory, and other operational needs. Our facilities manufacture a variety of wholesale grain products, cereal products, and granola bars. In these tumultuous times, joining an industrial agriculture company means never worrying about company stability again.
Our development approach is very hands-on, our developers regularly work with our manufacturing operations staff to develop requirements, implement features, and provide on-the-job training. We believe in short sprints and delivering features multiple times per week.
Were looking to hire a seasoned full-stack developer who enjoys seeing their code in action. This is truly a major selling-point of this position - your code will be in-use within days of writing it, you'll get immediate feedback on the code, and you'll be solving real problems. If you're sick of producing vaporware, or waiting months before a release, join us and start pushing to prod.
You'll need to be proficient, have experience, and enjoy working with these technologies:
PHP - We use version 7
SQL - We use Microsoft SQL Server extensively
JavaScript / HTML / CSS
Windows - All dev boxes, prod servers, and end-user terminals run on Windows
Extra credit if you have experience with these:
Cordova / PhoneGap for android mobile
Angular / Typescript for some of our fancy UIs
Big Data processing tools/techniques (Our facilities generate lots of data!)
Ethernet/IP / Modbus TCP / other PLC communication technologies
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering as well experience working with end users is ideal.
