Description

The Dream Broker program in Saskatoon is a partnership between the Saskatoon Public Schools, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, Sask Sport, SaskCulture and SPRA. Additional support is provided by the Sask Lotteries Trust Fund, Community Initiatives Fund, KidSport, Creative Kids and Give Kids a Chance Charity.

The purpose of a Dream Broker is to facilitate and support the participation of inner-city children in sport, culture, recreation and arts activities by:
Develop supportive, trusting relationships with children, parents, schools and community service providers;
Facilitate and provide support to enable and sustain participation in activities;
Promote and support community engagement.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience working with inner city children, youth and families;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Knowledge the delivery systems for sport, culture, recreation and arts programming;
A strong understanding of First Nations, Inuit and Metis;
An understanding of trends, issues, challenges and opportunities relating to First Nations, Inuit and Metis participation in sport, culture and recreation;
Ability to act independently, demonstrate initiative and the ability to be proactive in a team environment;
Ability to use the MS Office package, internet and e-mail applications;
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships;
Comfortable working in both community and school settings;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

A combination of relevant education and experience is required. Post secondary training in one of the following: recreation, kinesiology, education or the social sciences is an asset;
Drivers license and access to a vehicle are required;
Valid CPR and First Aid certification and a Criminal Record Check are required.
