The City of Humboldt is currently seeking a full-time Water and Wastewater Operator in the Public Works and Utilities Department. The employee in this position will be responsible for the operations to deliver safe potable drinking water as well as operations of all wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities for the City of Humboldt.
The individual in this role must exhibit good documentation skills and communication skills (written and verbal). Knowledge of water and wastewater systems, as well as repair techniques is considered an asset. The candidate must promote and enforce safe working conditions, participate in safety meetings and be able to identify potential safety hazards. The person must be observant to identify, track, prioritize and coordinate failures or deficiencies in the network. Candidates must be able to physically perform assigned duties which may include enclosed/confined spaces, repairing water/sewer main breaks, replacing sewer service laterals, replacing water services and operating water valves. The person must be able to work alone, accept direction and remain calm during emergency or stressful situations. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to recognize and possess strong interpersonal and leadership abilities with emphasis on possessing a positive and cooperative attitude.
Saskatchewan Operator Certification: WD 2, WWT 2, WWC 2 experience is preferred. Grade 12 or GED. Class 5 drivers license. $23.59-$29.00 per hour - Based on experience. (2021 Rates) CUPE Local 2359.
