Description

Westmoreland Mining currently has two positions available for permanent, full-time Third Class Power Engineers at the Estevan Mine.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to Mandatory Safety Standards and Responsible Care Codes of Practice;
- Adhere to and perform work tasks in a manner which complies with all plant safety rules, policies, standard operating/inspection procedures and to encourage others to do the same in order to protect the safety and health of all team members;
- Participate in safety programs, training to increase safety self-awareness;
- Maintain and review systems which impact process safety (procedures, process changes, training, refresher, system audits, etc.) such that the integrity of the management system is maintained;
- Monitor and control process conditions through routine patrols of the plant and operation of the control systems;
- Initiate safe start up and shut down of all plant equipment;
- Communicate deviations from routine operations;
- Perform daily boiler chemical tests and adjust chemical feed to boiler feedwater, as necessary;
- Perform inspections on plant equipment;
- Verify and calibrates equipment;
- Analyze and troubleshoot equipment;
- Perform daily equipment checks;
- Monitor and respond to plant alarms and fire system;
- Communicate and coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and inspectors;
- Transfer chemicals within the water treatment plant;
- Accurately document activities in a log book;
- Perform, review and revise all tasks as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and written instructions;
- Monitor process control instrumentation;
- Participate in the evaluation of process changes, new processes and equipment, etc.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3rd Class Power Engineering ticket
- Will require working twelve hour shift rotations, days and nights
