Job Description: The Patient Care Supervisor (PCS) is responsible for Patient Flow; to facilitate appropriate access to safe patient care. This includes accountability for decision making with respect to placement and movement of patients within and outside of acute care.  The PCS will function as an integral member of a case management team whose collective responsibility will include access to and movement through resources across the continuum, and to other health facilities. The PCS must be available for consultation with patients, families, physicians, nurses and support staff.  During off-hours the PCS will function as managements representative with respect to problem solving and will contact members of the On-Call Team as required.
Experience
Required Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree or Diploma in Nursing.
Knowledge of leadership theories and strategies in order to lead, encourage, advise and cooperate with colleagues to promote and maintain healthy, positive relationships while achieving client/patient, team and organizational goals within available resources.
Knowledge of current trends, issues and perspectives in healthcare.
Knowledge of communication techniques and approaches in order to adapt to multiple and ever-changing situations and environments.
Knowledge of critical thinking processes in order to creatively solve problems in an open and resourceful manner.
Knowledge of change theories in order to identify, promote and support change efforts.
Knowledge of group processes, dynamics and organizational culture and how they contribute to the functioning of an organization.
Current licensure with the SRNA.
Current CPR certification in Basic Life support at Level C.
Equivalent of 5 years recent experience in a medical, surgical, critical care or emergency department in
