An employee in this temporary position will function as a Technical Assistant. This position undertakes activities in support of various duties in collecting raw and treated water and wastewater samples and conducting research.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Preparing for field activities, organizing, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment;
Collecting water samples from representative wastewater/and or water treatment plants, upstream and downstream locations in accordance with accepted scientific water monitoring procedure and protocols;
Managing water data collected manually or electronically in accordance with established procedures;
Identifying and reporting data discrepancies to ensure accuracy;
Conduct research and report writing;
Assist with the staff in creating/and or modifying the fact sheets, guidelines, and protocols for water, wastewater and biosolids treatment works;
Working safely by participating in workplace safety;
Qualifications and Requirements:
The ideal candidates will be a current or recent graduates from a college or university in the discipline of biology or environmental studies. There is a particular interest in drawing current students from Saskatchewan Polytechnic, University of Saskatchewan, and University of Regina with training or experience in aquatic ecology or environmental engineering.
Work may require considerable travel, an irregular work schedule and, on occasion, extended absences from headquarters. Travel, sustenance, and accommodation costs will be provided when required to work away from headquarters.
