Description

Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and licenses and with environmental system requirements for Canadian operations
Provide seasoned technical knowledge of related science/engineering principles and federal/provincial/state and municipal laws and environmental legislation applicable to EVRAZ sites
Monitor and report on environmental activities
Conduct environmental projects and studies
Implement broadly defined environmental policies and manage complicated projects
Administer department and project budgets, controlling costs
Oversee and supervise the work of environmental contractors and multi-disciplinary environmental project teams

Requirements
Solid understanding of environmental legislation for the jurisdictions in which EVRAZ operates, acquired through experience and education
Participation in the on call rotation for the environmental department
Preference will be given to candidates with diversified experience in air, water, waste water, waste management, clean-up, ISO 14001: EMS, federal reporting for NPRI, Pollution Protection Plans, Chemicals Management Plan, Statistics Canada Surveys, and Greenhouse gases
Sound judgment of environmental issues and associated financial implications
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Strong research and technical writing skills; Ability to present information concisely and clearly
Managerial capability and the ability to work cooperatively
Proven ability to creatively solve problems coupled with highly effective planning, organizing and analytical abilities
Able to handle multi-tasking and maintain focus in a busy workplace; and able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of programs
