Duties & Responsibilities
Power system & protection relay related detailed designs for new & existing system upgrades
Modeling & analysis of electrical distribution systems, including short circuits studies & arc flash hazard analysis
Perform site visits & field work for data collection & model validation where required
Equipment specifications & procurement
Mentorship of junior technical staff
Assemble cost information & assist with bid takeoffs, proposals, & quotations
Project management & coordination
Ensure resources (manpower, material & equipment) are properly allocated
Act as a liaison with clients/contractors
Review project costs & identify areas for improvement
Assist management team with various projects & procedure/standard development
Field work which may involve supporting maintenance & commissioning activities on low voltage & high voltage equipment
Conduct work in a manner prescribed by JA Techs Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Manual
Skills & Qualifications
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered and in good standing with APEGS
5+ years experience in an intermediate or senior Electrical Engineering role
Demonstrated commitment to safety
Strong knowledge of electrical codes & technical standards
Experience with power system modelling software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower)
Familiarity with AutoCAD drafting software
Ability to work independently, with support from senior technical & engineering staff
Practical experience related to construction, installation, & commissioning of electrical power system equipment with strong focus on protection/relay systems in industrial/oil & gas/utility
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
