Description

Automotive Service Technicians examine, test, and repair the parts and systems on cars and light trucks.  They often used computerized diagnostic equipment to test, adjust and repair key vehicle components such as engines, steering systems, braking systems, drive trains, vehicle suspensions, and electrical systems.  The work also involves reassembling and testing repaired items against manufacturer standards, as well as performing preventative maintenance such as wheel alignments, oil changes, and tune ups.  

Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain shop equipment.
Follow health and safety guidelines and procedures; wear appropriate personal protection equipment.
Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform the repair in a timely manner.
Examine and test drive vehicles to determine what repairs are required or if additional service work is required.
Perform the installation, repairs, fabrication, alignments, changes, lubrication, replacement
Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts and save/tag parts if the repair is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
Maintain timely, accurate records of work performed per repair.  Perform scheduled maintenance service such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups.
Advise Service Advisors on work performed, general vehicle condition, and future repair requirements.
Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions.

Conditions of employment
Valid Class 5 drivers license
