Description

Must have ability to construct, erect, install, maintain and repair structures and components of structures made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, steel and other materials.

DUTIES:
Read & interpret blueprints, drawings & sketches to determine specifications & calculate requirements
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
Measure, cut, shape, assemble & join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel & other materials
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring & erect walls & roof systems
Foundations
Flooring & wall systems
Roof & truss systems
Architectural facets
Maintain, repair & renovate residences & wooden structures in residential, commercial & industrial establishments
Residential & commercial framing & general construction responsibilities
Window & door installation
Interior / Exterior finishing
Operation of skid steers, backhoes, telehandlers & general construction equipment considered an asset
Practical knowledge of the job with the experience of more than 5 years in Residential & Commercial Construction
Knowledge & ability to handle manual & automated tools such as saws, drill machines, wood cutters etc.
Great arithmetic aptitude with ability to determine precise measurements
Knowledge of the fundamental concepts used in construction & familiarity with the technical terminology
Good communication skills & general computer proficiency

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions vary from one job to another

Ability to work alone & in teams
As with all careers in the construction industry, safety is a top priority. Carpenters are trained to work safely & take special precautions to protect against injury
Ability to work in a fast paced work environment & to deal with work pressures
Reporting the complete details of attained tasks to supervisors
Ability to take direction from senior personnel &/or management
