Job Type:Permanent Full-time (37.5 hrs/week)
This position is two-fold: (1.) Work one-on-one with clients who have barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment by providing the necessary guidance, life skills, tools and certification required to enter the workforce and enable successful job maintenance (2.) Coordinate the Good Food Box Program, twice monthly, to provide the community accessible options to purchase fresh affordable food that is in season and where possible, locally-sourced.
Qualifications:
-Combination of post-secondary education/experience
-Experience in working with at-risk individuals
-Strong people skills and ability to work effectively with a team
-Ability to manage and perform complex tasks
-Keen interest and knowledge of career development, good nutrition and various community resources is an asset
-Physically able to lift, carry, push or pull food bags or boxes ranging from 2.5 kg (5 lbs) to 7 kg (15 Lbs)
-Must have a valid drivers licence and able to drive the Food Box van
-Must be able to work flexible hours when needed
-Must pass YWCA Security Clearance (Criminal Record Check and VSC)
Duties:
-Create a welcoming environment for clients and volunteers
-Conduct a needs assessment with clients to identify barriers to employment
-Assist clients in obtaining necessary skills and certification
-Assist clients in personal marketing tools such as resumes, cover letters and interview preparation
-Twice a month, plan and order the items for the Good Food Box
-Handle and track payment for new orders
-Recruit and manage a team of volunteers to pack individual orders and cleanup
-Deliver food boxes and coordinate with depots when necessary
-All other duties as assigned by management
