Job Description: As a valued Employee of the SHA, the general duty nurse has responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive client care.  The registered nurse is a competent clinical practitioner assisting individuals, groups and families with health-care needs ranging from uncomplicated to complex and rapidly changing status.  As a professional the general duty nurse demonstrates a caring approach, including an understanding of the nursing process, a conceptual model for practice and SHA philosophy, objectives and standards.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Experience
A minimum of two (2) years recent related nursing experience is required. Community nursing experience and the utilization of Electronic Medical Records are considered assets.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to initiate and exercise critical thinking and decision-making
Ability to make independent nursing judgments based on evidence-based practice and Mental Health principles
Demonstrates good communication skills with clients, peers, interdisciplinary team members, physicians and related departments.
Ability to demonstrate appropriate level of professional conduct and judgment.
Must have the ability to promote effective relationships within the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the community.
Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process.
Current clinical knowledge and skill is required in a broad range of areas.
