The 24 hour homes are a temporary home(s) for children and youth aged 0-11 in need of a safe and nurturing environment. The home(s) provide increased protection and a sense of safety and belonging for children and youth who are no longer in the care of their primary caregivers and or are involved with the Ministry of Social Services.
The Child Support Workers are under the direct supervision of the Home Supervisor and will follow the Saskatoon Tribal Council Personnel and Financial Policies and the 24 hour home Operation and Program Guidelines Manual.
The successful applicants will work rotating full-time or part-time shifts at the 24 hour homes.
Direct Services:
1.Ensure the best interests of the children / youth is foremost.
2.Collaborate with the Ministry of Social Services in assessing the short term and long term needs of the children and youth.
3.Provide a positive, safe and structured environment.
4.Follow a strict code of confidentiality at all times.
5.Represent STC in a positive manner at all times.
6.Report any suspected abuse to supervisor.
In addition to demonstrating warmth, empathy and sincerity, you must have a genuine passion for working with our children and youth. As a Child Support Worker, you will provide advocacy, support and resources to children/youth that may have involvement with the Ministry of Social Services in the urban centre. You will also demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills in your practice.
Qualifications:
1.Certificate/ Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education or other education in a related Human Services Field with child/youth care experience.
2.Knowledge of holistic model of health and wellness programs (Medicine Wheel Concept).
3.Knowledge of First Nations and Mtis culture and the ability to speak an Aboriginal language will be a definite asset.
