Description

The Saskatchewan SPCA is the provincial animal welfare organization working to prevent animal cruelty and promote the welfare of animals and their people.

The Family Ties Coordinator will coordinate new and existing programming that supports animal owners experiencing domestic violence or other emergency situations that impact their ability to provide animal care.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Family Ties Coordinator will:  

    Oversee the SaskSPCA Family Ties Program.
    Identify needs of animal owners in crisis and help develop programs to assist these owners and their animals.
    Coordinate the operation of the SaskSPCA provincial pet food bank.
    In conjunction with the Provincial Association of Transition Houses of Saskatchewan (PATHS) and STOPS to Violence, develop initiatives that work towards ending violence.
    Assist with training and support the launch of new animal safekeeping programs.
    Support the development of pet-friendly domestic violence shelters.
    Work with provincial partners in the development of a provincial emergency planning strategy.
    Develop a pet safekeeping program for the SaskSPCA Emergency Animal Care Facility.
    Develop policies and procedures for the care and disposition of surrendered and seized animals at the SaskSPCA Emergency Animal Care Facility.
    Work with the One Health Committee to provide educational sessions for human service and animal welfare professionals.
    Build relationships with stakeholders in the livestock sector.
    Serve on the Canadian Violence Link Coalition Steering Committee.

This is a full time, one-year term position. Position will include occasional travel, with some evenings and weekends.  Satisfactory criminal record check required.
