Fast Genetics is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a full-time Swine Production Technician position at our Manitou Barn.

This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions:
-Work as a team player by accomplishing specific department duties and farm goals,
-Ensuring proper health, handling, and comfort of sows, gilts, and piglets; ie: daily health checks and monitoring/maintaining proper ventilation and temperature,
-Weigh, sort, handle and/or move pigs,
-Feed, water, vaccinate, and perform general animal husbandry tasks including basic minor maintenance tasks to ensure feed and water systems are working properly,
-Power washing empty pens and prepping rooms for animal entry,
-Keeping accurate records on all animals as requested; ie: pig identification,
-Working safely and wearing appropriate PPE while performing all job duties,
-Ensure the barn's biosecurity protocol is followed by all staff and visitors,
-Assist with maintaining barn, office cleanliness, and laundry duties.
-Performing other general farm duties as required.

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:
-Self-motivated and reliable,
-Team player,
-Outstanding organization and communication skills and demonstrates attention to detail,
-Able to manage priorities and solve problems,
-Drivers license,
-A college certificate or other specialized training in agriculture or livestock husbandry with 1-2 years of experience would be an asset,
-Shares in Fast Genetics core values.
