Calian is a Canadian-based, publicly traded company that prides itself in its international reputation for excellence and long-standing history of continual growth. This opportunity is within the Advanced Technologies (AT) division, based out of our research location in the north industrial area of Saskatoon, called Calian Composites (formerly SED Research Inc). Calian Composites is an offshoot of Calian AT, focusing on the fabrication and use of advanced composites for satcom and other industries.

Calian is looking for dynamic and passionate Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Composite Engineering, you will be an integral member of the team and will be responsible for supporting design and  manufacturing of new and existing products.

Responsibilities:

-Initiate, oversee, and implement lean manufacturing initiatives
-Develop and maintain work instructions for production
-Evaluate the safety of new products on the shop floor
-Design and construct jigs, fixtures, etc.
-Support quoting, project planning, and project management on initiatives and projects
-Mentor and train staff
-Support the development of new manufacturing methods or technologies
-Define and implement workflows, and support the shop floor layout
-Prepare and implement engineering change orders
-Assist in management of the bill of materials and other documentation

Requirements:

-Degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial engineering or demonstrated experience
-Min. 5 years of relevant experience
-Experience with composite material manufacturing is preferred
-Experience in CAD is an asset
