Calian is a Canadian-based, publicly traded company that prides itself in its international reputation for excellence and long-standing history of continual growth. This opportunity is within the Advanced Technologies (AT) division, based out of our research location in the north industrial area of Saskatoon, called Calian Composites (formerly SED Research Inc). Calian Composites is an offshoot of Calian AT, focusing on the fabrication and use of advanced composites for satcom and other industries.

Calian is looking for dynamic and passionate Mechanical Technologist to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Composite Engineering, you will be an integral member of the team and will be responsible for the composite design, development, and manufacturing of new and existing products.

Responsibilities:

-Design and set up work cells/processes for the fabrication of carbon components
-Support trouble shooting of production issues in a timely manner
-Implement new manufacturing methods
-Maintain manufacturing documentation
-Coordinate fabricators for product testing and process experimentation
-Support manufacturing of new and existing products to improve efficiency
-Support establishment of internal best work practices

Requirements:

-Mechanical Technologist Diploma, Degree or equivalent of education and experience
-Minimum of 3+ years of direct experience in production of composites and vacuum infusion
-Comfortable in a dynamic environment with the ability to troubleshoot tough problems within design and manufacturing
-CAD experience is preferred
-Previous work implementing lean manufacturing and quality assurance programs is considered an asset
-Willingness to travel dependent on project needs
