Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, Quality and Safety North, the Safety Consultant is accountable for the application of safety practices and standards to protect, promote and maintain the health & safety of the health regions employees and to coordinate the administrative function of the regions Safety Program. The incumbent is also responsible for the design of a Safety Management System that would support the existing Safety Program, with the intent of exceeding minimum standards in Occupational Health & Safety.
The Safety Consultant is the agent of the Saskatchewan Health Authority - Prince Albert in directing compliance with all safety, environmental and other relevant legislation and standards. The Safety Consultant contributes to the physical and mental wellbeing and the productive work performance of all staff members through the development, administration and evaluation of a comprehensive safety program throughout the SHA. The Safety Consultant will provide leadership and direction in safety practices by assisting managers and staff, OHS committees and departments in developing health & safety processes, structures and activities that meet specific requirements and comply with legislative requirements. The goal of these activities is to control risk, preserve health region resources and promote safe environments for staff and safe patient care.
Required Qualifications
Formal Occupational Health and Safety training is required
Bachelor's Degree or suitable combination of education and experience

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- DEGREE / CERTIFICATION IN Occupational Health and Safety is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience in OHS will be considered.
