The suitable candidates will be able to perform the following duties:
Assist students in learning the Cree Language within the Grade 6 to 9 Cree Language Program;
Participate during supervision time and in extra-curricular activities;
Collaborate with Cree teacher in supporting individualized plans;
Support and participate in a wide variety of field trips, sports, social, recreational and craft activities;
Support and assist students and the school as assigned;
Maintain records of student progress; discuss with team members any changes which may be made to an individual student's program;
Respond flexibly to changes in schedule and to the needs of students, and at times may be required to engage in personal care;
Other work-related duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor;
The suitable candidates will possess the following qualifications:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
Must be prepared to work with children with various skills and abilities;
Previous experience as an Educational Assistant and/or School Resources is preferred;
Ability to maintain confidentiality;
Early Childhood Education experience or other experience working with children is an asset;
Willing to obtain First Aid Certificate;
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Must be able to speak and understand Woodland Cree Language;
Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
