Amtel Services Ltd. is now looking for Journeyman Powerline Technicians for Project-based in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
The responsibilities
- erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles
- maintain and repair overhead and underground power transmission lines
- install power transmission lines and wires,
- splicing guy wires
- install OPGW cables
- insulating and soldering conductors and related wiring to connect power transmission networks
- managing other associated equipment such as insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers and lighting systems
- work safely in reference to Amtels Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations
- perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
Qualifications
As the successful candidate, you will have:
Powerline Technician Trade Diploma/Certification or equivalent training/experience
3- 5 years of experience working in the trade, with knowledge of transmission power lines
Able to work in a team to efficiently and effectively complete jobs within deadlines
Must be flexible in hours worked, traveling, and working in severe weather conditions
Able to lift 25kgs or more on a regular basis
Able to work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
Able to climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures
Able to distinguish between colours
Able to complete physically demanding work that includes bending, crouching, kneeling and climbing at heights
Strong work ethic with a positive team attitude
Able to communicate basic English
This position requires candidates to:
Have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract
Own Tools/Equipment and Safety equipment/gear required
Successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
Travel and work overtime as required
Proof of Covid-19 vaccine
