The Ministry of Education currently supports six Family Literacy Hubs organizations in Saskatchewan. These Hubs act as literacy leaders by working in collaboration with communities to provide programs & services that equip families to improve their literacy skills & nurture their childrens early literacy development. This program contributes to improved school readiness, family engagement in learning, & community awareness. Family Literacy Hubs promote understanding of the importance of family literacy & act as literacy leaders which are a central access point for families & community organizations to locate family literacy programs & services.

United Way Regina is seeking a dynamic and collaborative leader to lead & manage family literacy programming in the Regina Region. This position will engage parents, caregivers and family members who support children from birth to age 5 by assisting them to develop their own literacy skills, support their childs literacy development, gain a greater understanding of their role as their childs first teacher, & increase their confidence to participate in their childs education once the child begins formal schooling. Through the promotion of family literacy, communities in the Regina Region will become more aware of the importance of family literacy; the impact family involvement has on academic achievement, and participate in the development of plans to address local family literacy needs.

Family literacy refers to intergenerational learning which includes parents, children, siblings, step-family, grandparents, caregivers, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors & others as identified by the family. Family Literacy Hub Manager works with schools, libraries, & communities (both rural & urban) to provide family literacy programs, services, & supports for families.
