The Communications Branch is seeking a creative and highly-motivated Senior Communications Consultant with experience in media relations and excellent writing skills. Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, the successful candidate will: collaborate with ministry officials and partners to maintain and build public awareness and support of ministry programs and services; be primarily responsible for managing the ministry's external communications, including responding to daily media inquiries; collaborate on appropriate messaging; prepare senior ministry officials for media interviews; organize news conferences and events; write speeches; and monitor justice related stories.

Knowledge of the justice system, criminal justice, corrections and policing as well as related issues is an important asset.

Typically, the knowledge and competencies required for this position would be acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, media studies, or a related field of study, combined with relevant experience.
