Description

We are currently recruiting for a Custodian/Maintenance Technician to work as part of a team dedicated to the treatment and success of youth in our care.  Reporting to the Executive Assistant, the Custodian/Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing custodial & maintenance duties to ensure the White Buffalo Treatment Centre grounds and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, sanitary, and attractive manner.

The Custodian/Maintenance Technician is responsible for janitorial work, grounds keeping, and assisting in a wide variety of general and semi-skilled maintenance activities that do not require the need for a journeyperson qualification. They ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and all fire and safety codes; assist tradespersons; ensure that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order; deliver and set up equipment/furniture; maintain an orderly and safe work environment; and other duties as assigned.

Minimal Requirements: Grade 12 or equivalent and three (3) years of relevant work experience in a maintenance and/or custodian.  A relevant combination of education and experience will be considered; a valid class 5 drivers license and a reliable means of getting to work; ability to provide a clear criminal and vulnerable sector check; physical and intermediate ability to perform a full range of maintenance tasks ranging from routine to semi-skilled trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.); Physical ability to perform groundskeeping and janitorial duties including snow removal, lawn care, and lifting/carrying heavy objects up to 50 lbs; and knowledge of modern custodial methods, materials, and equipment, including the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
