Primary Purpose: The Student Affairs Coordinator is responsible for the Student Affairs portfolio at the Regina Campus. This portfolio includes individual student support and wellness, accommodations, access/referral to counseling, financial advising, student loans and provides direction for other resources for medical students.
Nature of Work: Reporting to the Associate Dean, Regina Campus, the Manager - Finance and Administration, Regina Campus for operational issues and reporting to the Director of Student Services for student issues. This position will establish and maintain professional relationships with various stakeholders such as students, residents, faculty, departments and outside agencies. The incumbent will work within a team as well as independently. The position requires the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment while balancing competing deadlines and multiple tasks. Some travel within the province may be required.
The Student Affairs Coordinator leads the team that supports the undergraduate medical students at both the individual and group levels.
Will advocate for individual medical student needs within the Regina Campus including any issues of mistreatment, harassment, health/wellness or academic requirements in didactic or clinical settings.
Will also be responsible to oversee programming for undergraduate medical student wellness including negotiation of contracts for services, evaluation and needs assessment by users, and on-boarding new providers or services.
The Student Affairs Coordinator will contribute to provincial-level planning and delivery of student affairs supports for the College of Medicine as one program on multiple sites and will work to ensure comparability between sites.
