Description

The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan requires a full-time Reference Clerk to work in Reference and Outreach Services for a term position until September 2, 2022. Under the supervision of Reference Archivists and the Manager of Reference and Outreach Services, the successful applicant will play an essential role in providing a variety of client services.

You will provide receptionist duties by greeting and registering clients, and provide orientation to clients including the use of microfilm readers and printers. You will conduct basic conservation work for archival records and assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the reading room.

You will handle financial sales with clients, balance and deposit cash funds, and create invoices. The position has data input responsibilities, and a primary role of the position is tracking and documenting statistics relating to the work described above. You will have a primary role in preparing reproduction orders for clients according to archival standards.

As the successful candidate, you must have knowledge of common office and/or administrative procedures and protocols, and be familiar with the function of common office equipment and software. You will have experience with image editing, scanning, and graphic design software. You must have knowledge of basic archival conservation procedures.

The knowledge and abilities required for this position would typically be obtained through completion of Grade Twelve high school education. Additional education obtained from undergraduate courses in history or the Social Sciences, archival or library technician course work, and/or secretarial/administrative services training is an asset.

Candidates must have a valid drivers licence and be willing and able to work in an environment where there may be exposure to dust, moulds, and mildew. You must be able to physically lift, move and/or transport heavy boxes of materials weighing up to approximately 30 kg onto shelves.
