The Indigenous Wellness Coordinator facilitates an indigenous health and wellness strategy to improve access to services that meet the identified needs of Lighthouse clients. The Indigenous Wellness Coordinator is responsible for providing and facilitating access to traditional teachings and ceremonies in a safe environment as well as promoting cultural awareness, language support, cultural based healing, and working with Elders as required to meet the needs of the community. The Indigenous Wellness Coordinator will be knowledgeable of Indigenous history, cultural practices and views, and will be comfortable in supporting others in learning more about their own cultural practices and views.
The Indigenous Wellness Coordinator will be responsible to plan, deliver and coordinate health, social & healing programs through an integrated approach, in alignment with the overarching, holistic community health and wellness plans at The Lighthouse. This position will support our community members in times of crisis with traditional supports. This position acts as a resource for both residents and Lighthouse staff by recognizing the impacts of colonization and advocating for care provider relationships that are trauma-informed and person-centered to ensure the provision of culturally safe care.
