The Livestock Branch with the Ministry of Agriculture has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to join their team as a Regional Engineer to assist with ensuring environmentally sound development of the livestock industry in southern Saskatchewan.
The primary responsibility and knowledge required for this position are: to deliver the regulatory requirements of the Intensive Livestock Provisions of the Agricultural Operations Act; to conduct environmental site assessments and inspections, investigate complaints related to water pollution, and present information about the legislation and environmental protection; to provide design services and technical expertise to help livestock producers identify options to address environmental concerns; knowledge in Quaternary geology and hydrogeology; and
Knowledge of or interest in livestock production in Saskatchewan would be an asset.
This position will be attractive to individuals who enjoy working with variety of people including livestock producers, rural municipalities and other government agencies.
Travel throughout southern Saskatchewan approximately 50 per cent of the time is required in this position.
Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. In addition, the successful candidate must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
