Description

The Education Coordinator is responsible for education, outreach, and implementation of the APSS Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (AOOPP) initiative. The goal is to reduce morbidity and mortality from substance use disorders, with a focus on the current opioid crisis and synthetic opioid use.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, develop, plan, & facilitate prevention awareness campaigns in marginalized communities and facilitate community engagement sessions with diverse individuals & communities.
Integrate the voice of individuals with lived experience to have recovery-informed programs.
Implement harm reduction strategies that prevent opioid overdoses.  
Network & collaborate with community leaders including prevention and treatment professionals, law enforcement and education professionals.
Oversee the AOOPP, follow policies, regulations, and guidelines.
Coordinate Naloxone training and dissemination of Naloxone kits to the community.
Help build capacity to address the opioid crisis in Regina.
Design strategic approaches to meet grant-specific and program objectives.
Provide reports and outcomes of the AOOPP education initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, or Social Work with a strong understanding of opioid overdose prevention practices and issues affecting people who use substances.
Experience working to implement programs or projects.
Demonstrate ability to work with groups from diverse racial, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to independently track multiple tasks and provide follow-through to meet timelines and funding requirements.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel in Regina and South Saskatchewan
Valid First Aid & CPR certification
Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
