Job Summary
The Saskatoon Indian Mtis Friendship Centre (SIMFC) is a non-political, autonomous and a non-profit organization. The Saskatoon Indian Mtis Friendship Centre serves as a Gathering Place where Indigenous people can be culturally engaged and connected to community. The Fifth Fire is a culturally relevant housing program for youth ageing out of care or those whom have recently aged out of care.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
    Ensure utilization of relevant cultural resources and practices
    Assess housing barriers and needs of individuals experiencing homelessness
    Manage cases, provide advocacy and referrals
    Build relationships and liaise with service agencies and stakeholders
    Provide support services to equip and empower clients to sustain housing
    Interact with clients who have complex and often multiple service needs
    Advocate for higher needs cases
    Engage in all SIMFC events
    Other duties as assigned
    
Qualifications
    Knowledge in cultural practices and resources
    Knowledge of tenant rights and responsibilities
    Knowledge of community resources
    Experience and ability to navigation in a multi-disciplinary service provision environment
    Minimum of bachelor degree in a related field such as Human Services, Social Work, Sociology
    Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
    Case management skills, including documentation, maintenance and audit preparation
    Strong advocacy skills
    Valid drivers license
    Aboriginal candidate preferred (please self-identify)
    A clear criminal reference check, Vulnerable Sector Clearance and Saskatchewan Drivers Abstract will be a condition of employment
