The Educational Assistant 2 delivers specialized instructional programming to vulnerable persons with complex needs, behavioural issues, developmental disorders, mental health disorders, and/or other related issues.  The Educational Assistant 2 develops a program to teach participants the basic skills required to perform specific work-related activities and life skill strategies

Qualifications
Education and Professional Certification
A certificate or journeyman in area of expertise or in a related field of study.
An educational assistant or youth care worker certificate or diploma, or certificate, diploma, or degree in a related field of study is an asset.

Experience
Minimum one (1) year of related experience in area of expertise.
Experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with behavioural, cognitive, mental health, and/or developmental challenges is an asset.

Skills and Characteristics
  Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Services
Provide supervision, care, and support to vulnerable persons with complex needs, behavioural issues, developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, and/or other related issues.

Leadership
Set the direction of the classroom and deliver instructional plans in area of expertise.
Provide leadership and training to new employees, potential employees, practicum students, and volunteers.

Management of Resources
Access resources and supplies required for instructional plans appropriately and efficiently.
Budget for and purchase supplies used in the specialized instructional plans.

Additional Requirements
The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.
