Description

Throughout our history as a leading provider of registry and information services we've excelled at delivering value to government, to industry and to our community. Reporting to the Operations Manager, Surveys & GIS Data, this position is responsible for the following:

-Examine and analyze plans of survey and support documents that impact/affect the use of public and private lands and advise on compliance/non-compliance with Provincial Legislation, Acts and Regulations, and Land Registry
-Examine and analyze plans of survey to ensure mathematical accuracy using co-ordinate geometry, trigonometric calculations using survey software (i.e. Traverse PC), or through manual calculations
-Provide technical advice and recommendations to clients of ISC on matters such as plan preparation and submission, change order preparation, interpretation of plans, where to find appropriate information on the ISC website, etc.

Position Requirements:

-A two-year technical survey course, or five years directly related experience in the checking and/or preparation of land survey plans. An equivalent combination of education and experience related to technical survey work or experience in the field as a technologist involved in legal surveys may be considered.
-Thorough knowledge of the Land Surveys System, regulations, procedures and practices including legal survey procedures for the re-establishment/establishment of legal survey boundaries/ monuments, requirements for the preparation and drafting of survey and descriptive plans, procedures for survey plan submissions including required support documents, interpreting titles, and surveyors field notes
-Thorough knowledge of trigonometry and co-ordinate geometry
-Knowledge of Land Surveys Act/Regulations, Land Titles Act/Regulations, and other various acts/regulations that relate to Land Surveying and Plans of Survey
-Knowledge of computer software applications such as ArcMap, Spicer, Transverse and MS Office
