The ideal candidate will possess:
Passion for working with children, youth and families, specifically youth in age range of 6-12;
Good understanding of health issues affecting youth and adults, such as FASD, drug and alcohol addictions, intergenerational trauma, mental health, suicide and other mental and behavioural challenges;
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, customs and beliefs;
Understanding of current and emerging issues of importance to Indigenous people and communities;
Good understanding of cultural differences and how they impact treatment approaches for children and youth;
Good verbal and written communication skills with proven organizational and documentation skills;
Able to work well in a team environment with the ability to handle stressful situations in a non-confrontational, problem solving manner is required.
Hours are Monday-Friday 3pm-8pm, with flexibility.
Employment Standards: Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required abilities. Valid SK drivers license is a must. A drivers abstract will be requested.
Desirable Qualifications: Diploma or related certificate in social work, social services, or human justice preferred. Experience working in a child and/or youth facility or human services setting is highly desirable. Indigenous background or ancestry preferred. Good moral character as determined through a background check. First-Aid and CPR level C is essential.
