We are currently looking to fill a position for a structural steel detailer / drafter. Candidates must be highly skilled in the understanding of engineering documents, and design drawings. Knowledge of design loads, and steel connections details is an asset.
In addition to the above Candidates must possess:
- Post-secondary, or equivalent experience in Computer Assisted Drafting
- 4+ years of experience in detailing structural steel and miscellaneous metals with Tekla Structures
- Experience coordinating shop drawing production with a larger team
- Understanding of the steel fabrication process
- Understanding of tolerances and the impacts of steel processing techniques
- High attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Experience with Pronest and Peddimat software is an asset
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review engineered models and drawings
- Prepare shop drawings and details for fabrication
- Check approval drawings for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with Weldfab policy and standards
- Review, correct, and coordinate drawings from approval
- Flag issues for RFI, and track resolution
- Define the scope of the projects with the estimating team
- Send CNC files to equipment for processing
Candidates must be able to work independently in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment while taking direction and successfully interacting with other team members.
