Member Services Officer
Fulltime term to June 30, 2022
Summary of position: Working under the direction of the Executive Director, the Member Services Officer responsibilities will include general administration of collective agreements including interpretation of language; advising and representing members in all aspects of day-to-day labour relations issues; informal conflict and dispute resolution; the drafting of formal grievances and the presentation of such grievances to all levels of management as required; significant involvement in bargaining and development of bargaining strategies; research and reporting of statistics; and providing required support to senior officers and various committees demonstrating leadership skills and sound judgment in a variety of difficult situations.

Qualifications:
Degree in related field and 3-5 years labour relations experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered);
Experience in administration, negotiation and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements;
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills;
Strong writing skills;
Ability to self-manage and work independently under time pressures to meet deadlines;
Ability to work within a team, set priorities, and to balance a demanding workload;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
Experience filing grievances and arbitrations;
Familiarity with labour relations in a university environment would be an asset.

Terms and conditions of employment, including benefits and salary, are governed by the collective agreement between URFA and COPE 397 (Professional salary scale is $93,467.15 - $110,994.36). The URFA office staff are currently working remotely. This is subject to change.

End date: June 30, 2022  with the possibility of extension
