Job Description: The Accounting Coordinator is accountable for the daily operation of regional accounting services. This includes responsibility for managing, planning and directing the day-to-day accounting functions to ensure the accurate processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. This includes the remittance and recording of all payroll benefits and source deductions, reconciliations, verification and reporting of all region payroll accounts. Responsibilities also include ensuring that the financial requirements for the Canadian Revenue Agency, union collective agreements and the auditors are met efficiently while maintaining a customer (manager and employee) service focus.

Activities in this are includes: implementing best practices, assisting in the development, documentation and maintenance of regional financial guidelines, practices and procedures; monitoring adherence to policies, promoting a responsive service specific to inquiries and concerns and recommending solutions and strategies to minimize risk and enhance service.

Required Qualifications

Chartered Professional Accountant or equivalent, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced computer skills
Excellent organizational abilities
Ability to work within time pressured environments.
Experience in unionized payroll.
Functions with a minimal degree of supervision
Exceptional Accounting skills
Ability to work cooperatively with and provide leadership and support to all finance, accounting and payroll personnel.
Excellent leadership, communication, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to function effectively within the team of heal
