Job Description: The Addictions Counsellor assists with program planning and evaluation of Addiction Services, collaborates with other organizations, conducts clinical case conferences, assesses clients for addiction and/or/addiction related issues, develops rehabilitative plans for clients, and develops public education, prevention and health promotion programs.  The Addictions Counsellor conducts research activities under supervision, conducts counseling and group therapy sessions and assists in review, revision and development of treatment policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Chemical Dependency studies or another Bachelor Degree acceptable to the employer
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to travel both within the region and provincially
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to demonstrate knowledge in addictions and their effects on the family unit
Strong knowledge of mental health and addictions, as well as, addiction related issues and the effects on the individual, family unit and community including co-current disorders and the issues related to gambling addictions.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Ability to facilitate educational and skill development groups.
Demonstrated ability to conduct individual and group counselling/educational programs
Demonstrated understanding of community development principles and the relationship between population health promotion strategies and community development approaches
Ability to collect, record and report comprehensive client information accurately in verb
