Job Description: This position will work primarily as a member of a multi-disciplinary team at the Saskatoon Centre for Children's Justice (SCC) to provide mental health services in a timely way to children up to 12 years of age who have been seen at the SCC and who are exhibiting social/emotional/behavioural difficulties and to their non-offending parent/caregiver. The incumbent will provide consultation and service to the child's non-offending parent(s) or caregiver to understand and support the child's developmental and emotional/behavioural needs and provide an appropriate response to assist with the child's resolving any trauma issues as a result of their victimization. Assessment, support and therapy will be provided to these children and families who are in need of mental health services, while not compromising the child abuse investigation or any related court proceedings. The aim of this service would be consistent with those of the centre, namely, to minimize further victimization of the child and to facilitate healthy coping strategies. This position will function in a collaborative manner as part of a multidisciplinary team at the SCC to provide consultation to members of the team around mental health related issues and interventions for these children and their families, create intervention plans to address issues of trauma or other mental health related issues and refer clients to other appropriate services.
Children's Mental Health Services, Mental Health and Addictions will provide administrative and clinical support and this position reports to the Manager of Children's Mental Health Services.
