Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill the Assessment Coordinator role. Under the direction of the Manager of Taxation & Assessment, the Assessment Coordinator manages all functions relating to the input, processing, and balancing of assessment information received from the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA).

This position will perform the following duties:
    Act as the liaison between the City of Moose Jaw and SAMA
    Responsible for the importation, balancing, posting, printing, ect. of the annual and supplemental assessment information from SAMA
    Complete the annual and supplemental assessment maintenance lists and submit to SAMA
    Act as the primary expert for customer inquiries relating to assessment
    Ensure the Customer Service Supervisor is aware of assessment information
    Complete data entry as necessary into the tax assessment software
    Act as back up for the Taxation Officer as required
    Responsible for the maintenance of all tax exemption agreements
    Work with the Board of Revision Secretary to ensure all relevant information is available for processing appeals
    Perform property tax collection duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have:
    Completion of a diploma in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
    Two (2) years related experience in municipal assessment and taxation
    Demonstrated knowledge of computer programs including Windows, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, Crystal Reports, ect.
    Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
    Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with the public, outside contacts and other employees
    Proven ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
    Fully bondable
