Description

Working closely with school administration, staff, parents, and First Nations, Metis & Inuit students, the Aboriginal Student Achievement Coordinator (ASAC) will collaborate with students to develop success plans to improve achievement, school engagement and graduation. The primary duties of the ASAC position fall into the areas of relationship-building (advocate for FNMI students and parents/caregivers), supporting students (case management and success planning), and data collection and monitoring (using data to monitor academic outcomes). This particular position supports the Cree bilingual high school program, as well as the miyo machihowin program at E. D. Feehan Catholic High School. Experience with First Nations ceremony, cultural arts and land-based learning are considered essential skills in this role.

Required Qualifications:
- A post secondary degree in a related human services or education discipline
- A minimum five years working in the Human Services, Education or Social Work sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong commitment and the ability to articulate how to work with children from strength based and appreciative philosophies, including engagement and improvement strategies
- Ability to speak or understand a First Nations, Metis, or Inuit language an asset
- Knowledge of First Nations and Metis history, cultures, and family systems
- Ability to articulate the aspects of strong case management as it contributes to student success
- Ability to make strong contributions to an integrated team of professionals as well as provide leadership in the areas of student engagement, culturally responsive school practices, data management, and record keeping
- Commitment to ideals and principles of Catholic education
- Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation

Terms of Employment:
- As per Collective Agreement
- 7.25 hrs/day
- To begin asap
- Salary range $33.85 to $41.12 per hour
