This position is responsible for all supply chain activities at Brandt including procurement, transportation of materials and finished goods, measuring the performance of suppliers, developing new suppliers, and keeping track of commodities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage, staff, and mentor the purchasing group, logistics group, and supplier development group
Procure all materials, goods, and services necessary for all of Brandts operations
Develop relationships with existing and new vendors
Where appropriate, negotiate longer term supply contracts
Measure and improve the performance of Brandts suppliers
Analyze Brandts spend by supplier and commodity
Develop a supplier pre-qualification process and review process
Manage all incoming and outbound logistics, including contracting and coordinating trucking
Manage all import and export activities
Oversee all modes of transport including tow-out, flat deck, low bed, van, LTL, and rail shipments
Manage and dispose of obsolete inventory
Work with cost accounting, operations, and engineering groups to reduce product cost
Oversee and manage the corporate purchasing policy, including PO practices and approval limits
Work with in-house legal department to develop standard procurement terms and contracts
Required Skills:
Strong work ethic and character
Excellent negotiation skills
Proven leadership skills and experience
15+ years experience in a procurement environment
Background in required inventory needs steel, hardware, etc.
Excellent communication skills verbal and written
