Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Youth Worker will be responsible for providing crisis intervention, follow-up/support, and information/referral services in a full range of human and social problems specific to youth.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
- working with the Program Team to address client needs and service gaps
- conducting community/group presentations in the La Ronge area and Northern Communities
- Facilitating evening programming for Youth such as Iskwesis Club and Youth Empowerment Program
- Developing additional youth programming as identified by a needs analysis
- Providing support and non-judgemental listening to clients and potential clients
-Following up with and conducting home visits with clients
CRITICAL FACTORS:
- Ability to work independently or as a team
- Strong time management skills and able to prioritize projects
- Ability to prepare written and statistical reports
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills when dealing with clients and other service agencies.
- Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Drivers License
- Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Grade 12
- Post-Secondary education in a human services field is considered an asset
- 2+ years experience in a human services field
- Ability to speak Cree or Dene is considered an asset
