About the position:
The Barrier Reduction & Service Access Specialist position sits within our Jordan's Principle initiative designed to champion our community effort to systematically identify and reduce these barriers.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across our various human service sectors, and across different jurisdictions of government(i.e., band, provincial, federal)to develop solutions for service barriers impacting children and youth.
The position will provide immediate support to children and their families during times of need, while also supporting human service providers in their respective efforts to mobilize proper services and supports around children and families.
The position will be housed in our health centre, with day-to-day supervision by the health director.
The position will also provide direct support to the daycare, health centre, school, and band office programs.
The duties for this position are split among three focus levels:
A. Community-Level
Engage human service partners in shared ownership over barrier identification and reduction.
Facilitate implementation of an integrated needs assessment for children and families.
Champion upstream methods of barrier identification and reduction.
Be a steward of collaboration around children and families with unaddressed needs.
B. Program-Level
Support data collection and analytical activities designed to better understand needs and service barriers in the community.
Apply for and manage funds required to help children and families overcome barriers to proper assessment, treatment and support.
Explore funding opportunities both within Canada's commitment to Jordan's Principle as well as from additional sources of funding.
C. Individual-Level
Help children with unmet social, education and health needs, gain access to appropriate services.
Coordinate clinical pathways for children to overcome barriers to proper assessment, treatment and support.
