JNE Welding has been providing quality custom steel fabrications for the resource-based industries for 40 years, gaining a reputation of being a fabricator of choice. We proudly serve the mining, environmental, construction, oil sand and power generating sectors.We are currently looking for a Design & Drafting Technologist to interpret and design steel fabrication projects for a wide range of clients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Produce shop drawings and supporting documentation
Estimate remaining time on current jobs and revise schedules as needed
Review customer specifications and drawings
Communicate with Customers, Project Managers, Shop, and Quality Assurance
Create detailing estimates, drawing plans, and schedules
Attend project meetings
Provide support for senior detailers, office, and shop staff
Compile preliminary material summaries
Complete self-checks and peer checks of drawings for consistency, accuracy, and compliance with JNE standards and industry standards.
Participate in personal development training as needed
Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed by the Detailing Manager or Senior Detailer.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or equivalent
Minimum 2 - 3 years of related work experience
Work experience in heavy plate fabrication detailing and/or structural steel detailing is an asset
Knowledge of welding procedures and codes is an asset
Demonstrated skills with Cad drafting application software such as: AutoCAD, Inventor, and SDS/2 or equivalent modeling software
Strong Microsoft office computer skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Excellent attention to detail
A commitment to professional development and self-improvement
