The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Mining and Minerals Division has an opening for an Assistant Scientist to join the Geochemistry area in the Geoanalytical Laboratories.
Accountabilities
Develop new methods including but not exclusive to ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and C/S
Troubleshoot equipment errors and sample preparation errors
Interpret chemical data and maintain ICP-OES and ICP-MS instrumentation
Provide training for laboratory technicians on analytical methods
Assist in sourcing and developing automation for current methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Prepare documentation and reports on analytical testing
Qualifications
B.Sc. in Chemistry
Education in geochemistry is an asset
1-2 years experience in a laboratory setting
Skills
A team player with effective interpersonal skills to work collaboratively, and also able to work independently
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and contribute to innovative solutions by thinking outside the box
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
