Southeast College, one of Saskatchewan's Top Employers for four consecutive years, is expanding its Powerline Technician (PLT) Instructional Team.
As a PLT instructor you will join a team of highly qualified instructional staff and will be required to instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources in both classroom and lab settings. You will teach all courses in Levels 1-4 of the Powerline Technician Apprenticeship Technical Training Program as outlined by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission, including theory and practical. Instructional topics will include, but are not limited to, pole climbing safety, AC and DC theory, rigging, structures, line work, bonding and grounding, line design and drawings, above ground and underground systems, specific terminology associated with the trade and ground disturbance procedures. You will be required to prepare learner performance reports and assessments as required. Other related duties include maintaining a quality, student centered, diverse learning environment. You will also serve as a subject matter expert for any related development activities.
The successful candidate must hold an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certificate and must be able to demonstrate depth of knowledge and practical application in the industry. This position requires a minimum of ten (10) years recent, relevant experience. Preference may be given to individuals with prior experience instructing adults or in a leadership role, and those who can demonstrate a strong application of related mathematical concepts. Functional knowledge of on-line tools such as Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom for instructional purposes. Satisfactory CRC required.
Start Date: On or about January 4, 2022 for a 180 day term position or portion thereof, renewable annually.
