Description

The Town of Nipawin is actively seeking a dynamic individual who is organized, innovative, and knowledgeable in the Volunteer Fire Department field and has excellent people and management skills to fill the position of Fire Chief. This position is part of the Senior Management Team, who work to maintain and improve municipal services and infrastructure, ensuring quality of lifestyle for the residents of Nipawin.

The Fire Chief is responsible for the overall strategic development and administration of the departmental policies and procedures. The Fire Chief manages and co-ordinates fire prevention and suppression functions for the Town and provides technical direction and guidance to those neighboring municipalities that have entered into Services or Mutual Aid Agreements with the Town. Notwithstanding having overall functional responsibility, the Fire Chief has specific functional responsibility for the administration, fire prevention, and apparatus and equipment functions of the department.

The Fire Chief is responsible for the overall efficient and effective financial, technical, health & safety management of the department, as well as provide leadership and strategic direction that will align resources to achieve results, implement and manage change as necessary, and ensure respective services are delivered consistent with applicable legislation, bylaws, policies, and procedures.
